This island nation is made up of 40 different islands. Although there are a relatively small number of local residents, numbering around 30,000, there are more than one million visitors to Turks and Caicos each year. Unlike the other islands in the area, Turks and Caicos is not technically located in the Caribbean. Instead, it is in the nearby Atlantic Ocean just 550 miles south of Florida. Like Anguilla, English is the official language on Turks and Caicos, and the nation is an overseas territory of the United Kingdom.
