Travel Review Series – Ocean Club Resorts

An Excerpt from Nenna’s Summer Trip to the Turks and Caicos Islands

There are two resorts on the Turks and Caicos islands that are part of the Ocean Club Resorts. The first is the older of the two, Ocean Club, set on the very east side of Grace Bay Beach. It is quiet, no traffic and a very popular resort for returning guests year after year. It is one of the older hotels, having been over 15 years since it opened, it is rather quaint, the grounds are beautiful and there are two great restaurants onsite. The beachfront Cabana Bar & Grill serves an award winning Mojito that I fell in love with and the Opus Restaurant serves delectable mains for dinner with an extensive wine list.

Ocean Club West is the newer of the two resorts. It is centrally located along Grace Bay Beach and within walking distance to some shops and restaurants. It has been recently renovated and is very similar to Ocean Club in regards to room types, amenities and the grounds. The Seaside Cafe on site is also beachfront and has an award winning Conch Burger on its menu which I had twice on my visit this time.

Both resorts are family friendly but are also popular with business travelers due to their small and reasonably priced studios. Families can choose between 1-3 Bedroom Suites that come with everything a family would need; en-suite bathrooms, full kitchen with utensils, large living and dining area but best of all, the largest screened balcony you will find at these rates. Studios start from just $180 and suites from $265/night. They also always have specials running like at the moment they are offering the 7th night free off all of their room types. And best of all there are no extra person charges. There is of course a maximum number of people you can cram into a room, but unlike some resort where you have to pay up to $100pp/night, you don’t here.

Overall, both Ocean Club Resorts offer a great experience and a tremendous value when vacationing on the world famous Grace Bay Beach in the Turks and Caicos islands.
