Turks and Caicos on a Budget

The popular and phenomenally spectacular group of islands known as the Turks and Caicos is home to many luxurious destinations – although it can also be experienced at a remarkably affordable rate. The motto here in TCI is “beautiful by nature, clean by choice” and you’ll see why when you visit. The scenery is second to none as far as the Caribbean goes and really does seem spotless. Even at our choices for the best budget hotels. (The following hotels offer rooms in the $140 – $180 range with even better rates possible at certain times.)

Overlooking gorgeous Turtle Cove from on high, La Vista Azul is a lovely property at a great price point. The Mediterranean style condo units have everything you’d need to make a vacation lovely, including private balconies and fully equipped kitchens (with a convenience store on the premises to stock up with some supplies). There’s two rooftop pools with hot tubs to watch the world go by.

For a more intimate setting, try Villa del Mar for an excellent selection of reasonably priced studios, two-bedroom suites, and even penthouses to choose from. In fact, it’s one of the very best values on the island. All the well-appointed suites are set amid lush tropical surroundings and each features kitchens or kitchenettes to prepare your own meals, flat screen TV with DVD, laundry, and patios or decks. There are two pools and a hot tub on site as well as tiki hut and bar and premium beach service of excellent quality. This boutique resort is a sanctuary of good vibes, with three of the best restaurants on the island within walking distance (as well as spas, shopping, and a casino).

The twin resorts of Ocean Club and Ocean Club West are another excellent option for budget travel. Located short shuttle ride or a 15-minute walk down the beach from each other, when you stay at one you can play at both. The accommodation is tropical and comfortable with airy rooms to be your home-base for action and activities or relaxation and peace. The best budget option is to find out which of the two resorts has the better rate and go with that one.

One of the higher end budget resorts, this gorgeous four-star property is an all-suite oceanfront condominium resort that absolutely radiates classic romance. The accommodation is top notch (especially for the price point) and the amenities and activities provided here will have you feeling like wow did you ever get a great deal. There’s a dozen miles of white sand beach out front, excellent restaurants and premium service. Luxury accommodation at a reasonable rate, just like the good old days.

Another wonderful option for top-notch accommodation at an affordable rate is the Sands at Grace Bay. This beautiful resort is decorated in traditional plantation style with vibrant gardens and classic architecture. The luxury suites are thoughtfully appointed with at least kitchenettes and many feature full modern kitchens and oversized patios with floor to ceiling windows. The dining here is excellent with Hemingway’s right at beachside. There’s the Spa Tropique for an exercise in bliss and beauty. You’re minutes away from a championship golf course and world-class diving and boating. The three pools are awesome as well with winding canals through the gardens all creating a sense of perfection. This is how to do Turks and Caicos on a budget.
